Frequently Asked Questions

Is 100+ Women Who Care Temecula Valley a non-profit?
No, we are simply a group of women who get together four times a year help support local charities.  All meetings are held in facilities that are generously donated and the work of our founding team is all done on a volunteer basis, free of charge. There are no membership dues and 100% of our donations go directly to the winning charities.  100WWCTV does not process any payments such as credit or debit cards, all checks are written directly to the charities. You must bring a blank check to the meetings.

Do I have to do any additional volunteer work or fundraising to be a member of this group?
Nope.  Your obligation as a member is to attend four one-hour meetings per year and write a $100 check at each meeting.

What if I cannot attend a meeting?
If a member cannot attend a meeting, she can do one of two things. She can send a blank, signed check with a trusted friends to the meeting (preferred) and the friend will write the name of the charity that is chosen on the check and give to the organizers that evening.  Or, the member can make arrangements to mail the check, made out to the chosen charity, within one week after the meeting to one of the organizers.

Where do I send my check if I missed the meeting?
You can send your check to:
100WWCTV
c/o Tracy Steffen
22475 Baxter Road, Wildomar, CA 92595

When do I submit my organization for consideration?
You can submit your charitable organization anytime during the quarter but no later than 10 days before our next meeting date.

Which organizations are allowed to be submitted?
In order to be considered at a meeting, the organization must be based in the Greater Temecula Valley area.  The organization must be a non-profit entity recognized as a 501(c) (3) and must have been previously established (no start-ups). We also prefer that the organization doesn't use any of their proceeds toward administrative fees, utilities, payroll, or rent. This would definitely discourage members from voting for them over someone who would not use the proceeds for those purposes. Donations benefiting national charities will not be considered, unless there is a local group affiliation and the donation will only benefit the greater Temecula Valley area.  If there is an urgent community emergency at the time of the meeting, it may be presented as one of the choices upon pre-approval from chapter leadership.

What is a 501(c)(3)?
A 501(c)(3) is generally defined as "exemptions that apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational purposes, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, promote the arts, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals."  However, for the purposes of 100+ Women Who Care all groups up for consideration must be local.

What if the charity chosen to receive the donations is not my first choice?  Do I still have to donate?
One of the requirements for membership is that you agree to donate to whichever charity receives the majority vote.  We make sure all the charities nominated meet our guidelines and that they do good work here in the Temecula Valley!

Can’t I just send my donation to the charity myself?
The goal of the 100+ Women Who Care organization is to make a large donation on behalf of the group.  We want to be able to support this endeavor and give $10,000+ at a time to make a large impact on our community, with each members donation being a part of the larger donation. We also need to be able to track your donations so that you get credit for the donation and remain eligible for submitting charities and voting at meetings.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Charitable donations to 501c3 organizations are tax deductible but we encourage you to contact your tax advisor or visit the IRS website for further information.

How long do the meetings last?
We promise to keep the meetings to no longer than 60 minutes.

Can I bring a guest to the meeting?
Yes!  You may invite a friend at anytime. However, if your friend wants to cast a vote after hearing the presentations she will need to sign a Commitment Form and become a member.

I want to help but I don't have $400 a year to commit. Can I give less?
The short answer is no, but we do have an option to give the $400 per year as a team of two. How you divide the payments is up to the team members but it must still equal $400. (e.g. $50 per meeting 4x per year or $100 per meeting 2x a year by each member.
